IDF Band Music History www.4law.co.il ISRAEL MUSIC HISTORY www.4law.co.il IDF Band in The Red Square “Hevenu Shalom” www.4law.co.il The Band of the Defense Army of Israel The Band of the Defense Army of Israel was created in 1948, the year when the State of Israel was founded. Some of the special responsibilities of the Band, with a repertory of classic and national Israel music, are to provide music arrangement of the protocol events and state ceremonies. A special place in the Bands repertory is the March of the Defense Army of Israel We have brought peace and the Hymn of Israel – The hope. In order to enhance the skills of the temporary enlisted soldiers, the Band has opened its music college. The military bandmaster is lieutenant colonel Mihael Yaharan, born in Moldova, graduate of the Conservatory of Musicescu of Chisinau and of the Rubins Academy in Tel-Aviv. Yaharan started his military service in the Defense Army of Israel as assistant to bandmaster; he has been on his current position since 2002. He directs the Band during the most important state events, concerts of the leading singers of Israel, military ceremonies, music festivals (in Hungary, France and the USA). The Bands library has over 300 of his arrangements and music pieces.
